Favorite WOD/Exercise: My favorite movements in CrossFit are probably dubs, bar muscle ups and cleans.
Least Favorite WOD/Exercise: Deadlifts.

Tell us about yourself.

I am an Art Teacher at Jackson Memorial Middle School. I also am an assistant football coach and head boys track and field coach. I partake in art club, ski club and other extra curricular activities within our school.

Why did you start CrossFit?

I started CrossFit because I had a hard time intrinsically motivating myself on a daily basis.

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?

My favorite thing about CrossFit is the daily competition with friends. I love competing and the more I get to know everyone, the more fun it gets.

What is a PR (Personal Record) that you are proud of?

405# back squat. Before that max lift, I had only ever done 335lb. It just goes to show that a lot of us do not fully grasp the distance our bodies can go. Sometimes our mind and sense of ‘doubt’ can get in the way. That was a very surprising breakthrough on a day where I just so happen to have a lot of confidence.

What motivates you to CrossFit?

I am motivated to keep up with ALL of the amazing people at our gym. Believe it or not, seeing all of the moms, single ladies, women working full time jobs and most importantly, my wife, going above and beyond to get themselves in peak shape is what inspires me the most. The competitor side in me keeps track of the top guys at our gym and pushes me to keep up.

What goals would you like to achieve in the next year that CrossFit can help you with?

I would like to become comfortable in competing 100% RX.

What would you tell someone who was thinking about starting CrossFit, but was nervous or scared?

I was nervous and scared on my first day. My first workout was heavy cleans and bar facing burpees of rounds of 21-15-9. I couldn’t workout again for 4 days because of how sore I was. Once you break through, you won’t be able to stop. The constant support from our amazing coaches and competition with friends will keep you coming back. I found out very quickly that the 330 community is unique and special and now am proud to call many of them some of my best friends.
